Rocks Split Weekend Games

by Janice Huckin

The Tier 1 Shamrocks went into the second weekend of the season with a record of 2-0 and split a pair of games, losing to the Coquitlam Adanacs at home Saturday 18-6 but rebounding with a 14-10 victory on the road in Richmond on Sunday to finish the weekend at 3-1.

Saturday Coquitlam jumped out to a 4-0 first period lead and the Rocks just couldn’t seem to get things going as they trailed 11-3 after 40 minutes before dropping the decision.

Evan Law and Carson Echlin led Victoria’s offense with 3 points each on a goal and 2 assists.

On the road, Victoria got out to a quick lead and rode Cameron Lumb’s 4 goals to the victory over the Roadrunners.  Call-ups Jace Francis and Dylan Johannes each chipped in a pair of goals to help the team to its third victory.

Next action for the Tier 1 Shamrocks is next Saturday, May 11 at the Q Center when they will host the Delta Islanders at 1:00 pm.  That will be followed by a Jr. ‘A’ game with the Rocks playing the Langley Thunder in a 5:00 pm contest.
